Why Choose Hardwood Hustle Summer Basketball Camps?

At Hardwood Hustle, summer camp isn’t just an event, it’s the heartbeat of our year! Our coaches are more than experts in basketball; they’re mentors, role models, and leaders who bring passion and energy to every session, inspiring the next generation of Hustlers to grow both on and off the court. Through tactical instruction, creative drills, and gameplay, we focus on building basketball fundamentals, enhancing game IQ, and boosting confidence. Players leave camp with sharpened skills and a deeper understanding of the game. Beyond the court, our classroom sessions emphasize leadership, teamwork, resilience, and empowerment, equipping athletes with life skills that extend far beyond basketball. Whether it’s your first time in the gym or you’re a returning Hustler, you’ll experience the spirit of community that makes Hardwood Hustle special.

What medical information will I need to submit?

It is necessary for Hardwood Hustle to adhere to the regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the PeabodyBoard of Health. As part of this compliance, we kindly request that all campers provide us with a copy of their most recent Physician’s Report, including Immunization Records. This helps us maintain a healthy environment and ensures that our facilities meet all necessary standards. The report should be dated and signed within the last 18 months.

Will my child be safe?

Committed to compliance, our camp adheres to the regulations set by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the local board of health. We've implemented strict sign-in and pick-up policies. All participants and their families will receive camp safety policies and guidelines before the first day of camp.

Does the clinic provide snacks or lunch?

Each camper must bring their own lunch.  We will have allocated time during the camp for a lunch and recovery period. During lunch and the recovery period of each camp, participants will have the opportunity to purchase snacks and drinks to enjoy.

Can parents watch throughout the day?

Parents are allowed to watch their children at any point during the day.

Are participants placed in groups based on age, experience, and skill level?

We divide participants into groups based on age first. Then, participants are evaluated by the coaching staff throughout the week. Participants who would benefit from being moved to a higher group will be asked if they would like to move. Hardwood Hustle coaches will always try to honor the requests of the participant/family while maintaining what is best for the clinic.

What if we can’t afford the tuition fee?

If you find yourself in need of financial assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you every step of the way. Our team is dedicated to helping numerous players each year, particularly those who have demonstrated their commitment by attending a Hardwood Hustle camp.

Is there a Health Care Supervisor available?

We have a dedicated Health Care Supervisor available full-time. Our Health Care Supervisor is unable to administer any medications - prescriptions or over-the-counter - brought from home without the following:

- A completed and signed Authorization to Administer Medication Form.

- All medications must be in their original containers that include the original pharmacy label.

Is the camp required to conduct background checks on camp staff?

Yes. For all camp staff and volunteers, the licensed recreational camp for children must conduct a background check that includes obtaining and reviewing the applicant’s previous work history and confirming three positive references. The camp must also obtain a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) history/juvenile report history from the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services to determine whether the applicant has a juvenile record or has committed a crime that would indicate the applicant is not suitable for a position with campers. The camp must conduct CORI re-checks every three years for permanent employees with no break in service.  The local health department will verify that CORI checks have been conducted during their annual licensing inspection. If an applicant resides in another state or in a foreign jurisdiction, where practicable, the camp must also obtain from the applicant’s criminal information system board, the chief of police, or other relevant authority a criminal record check or its recognized equivalent. The camp is required to hire staff and volunteers whose backgrounds are free of conduct that bears adversely upon his or her ability to provide for the safety and well-being of the campers.

Is the camp required to have a person on-site who knows first aid and CPR?

Yes. All licensed camps are required to have a health care supervisor at the camp at all times who is at least 18 years of age and is currently certified in First Aid and CPR. The camp must provide backup for the health care supervisor from a Massachusetts licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner who serves as a health care consultant.
