ATHLETE MENTAL HEALTH & WHOLE PERSON DEVELOPMENT

Mental health is a fundamental part of our training philosophy. We believe young athletes deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported as players & people. Together the Hardwood Hustle team focuses on developing healthy mental health habits that athletes can carry with them on the court & transfer into their personal lives off the court. By teaching athletes how to care for their mindset, we empower them to play with confidence, handle adversities, and carry these life long lessons with them far beyond the court.

HARDWOOD HUSTLE MENTAL HEALTH CURRICULUM

Our Mental Health Curriculum creates spaces for players to grow not only on the basketball court, but in their daily life. The overall goal of the curriculum is for athletes to develop lifelong mental health skills and a positive sense of self. Through guided discussions and interactive activities during skills training sessions, clinics and camps, our 12 modules within our curriculum empower athletes to build confidence, resilience, and become the strongest version of themselves both on and off the court.

12 Module Mental Health Curriculum:

  • Athlete Identity & Self-Worth: Help athletes understand they are more than their performance on the court.

  • Confidence Building: Build repeatable confidence strategies athletes can use on and off the court.

  • Emotional Regulation & Stress Management: Strengthen emotional control and reset tools.

  • Positive Self-Talk & Visualization: Positively improve internal voice and dialogue.

  • Resilience & Mindset Strength: Teach how to build growth-mindset habits.

  • Team Relationships, Mentorship & Community: Enhance communication, conflict resolution tools and build long term support systems.

  • Mindfulness & Gratitude: Grow the ability to be presen st, calm and focused in high pressure situations.

  • Body Image & Making Comparisons: Support positive and strong relationship with body development.

  • Anxiety, Burnout and Pressure: Encourage balance and decrease feeling of being overwhelmed.

  • Leadership & Self Advocacy: Empower young athletes to lead and speak up.

  • Building Healthy Habits: Reduce validation cycles through social media.

  • Managing Expectations & Perfectionism: Balancing expectations and teaching strategies to embrace making progress over perfection.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Real growth goes beyond the court. It’s built through reflection, guidance, and support. Our Mentorship Program gives athletes a one-on-one space with a coach to strengthen their mindset and mental well-being.

BEYOND THE GAME ACADEMY

A small group academy designed to give athletes a space to grow to come together to have open conversations about the mental side of sports and the everyday experiences that come with being a young athlete.
